Unicorn Publishing’s founders are two veteran journalists from Singapore with more than 27 years’ experience, covering the business and lifestyle arenas across different media. Collaborating with a network of experienced writers, creative directors, designers, photographers and printers, our mission is to help satisfy the communications needs of our customers by delivering precise, compelling and intelligent copy.

FRANCIS KAN

Francis is an experienced journalist and copywriter, who has worked at a number of leading local and international news organisations. Among other roles, he has been the business editor at Today newspaper, the editor of luxury lifestyle magazine The Peak and a correspondent at global news agency Reuters.

As a partner at Unicorn Publishing he has worked on editorial projects for financial institutions (DBS, Credit Suisse, Citi), government agencies (SPRING Singapore, IMDA) and corporates (Changi Airport Group, ST Engineering), among others.

Over the course of 18 years as a journalist he has covered business and high-end lifestyle sectors in Singapore, as well as the energy industry in Asia, winning awards for reporting and editing along the way. He continues to write for publications such as The Business Times, The Straits Times and Forbes Asia.

Denyse Yeo, Unicorn

As a partner in boutique editorial services agency Unicorn Publishing, which she co-founded in 2013, Denyse has helped to strategise and create editorial content for publishers, corporations and government bodies, including the Singapore International Festival of Arts (2016 and 2017), DBS Bank, the Public Service Division and NTUC Fairprice.

She was the contributing project editor for Building A Better World: Celebrating 25 Years (Singapore International Foundation, SPH Magazines), which won Gold in the Corporate Books category at the International Creative Media Award (ICMA) 2016. She is also the current contributing editor for Audi Singapore magazine (Edipresse Singapore, 2015 to present), which won Automotive Media of the Year at the 2017 Media Publishers Association of Singapore Awards.

As a writer with a focus on personality and lifestyle features, Denyse contributes to publications, including The Business Times, The Straits Times Life!, Epicure, SilverKris, Singapore Tatler and Sands Style. Her 19-year career in newspaper and magazine journalism includes roles as the editor of the Singapore International Institute of Affairs, editor of Her World Singapore and deputy editor of Singapore Women’s Weekly.

SITI ROHANI

In a 17-year magazine editorial career, Siti has taken on key roles in the entire spectrum of content and magazine publishing. Specialising in content strategy and creation, she has steered and created compelling stories for several popular titles, including Reader’s Digest Asia where she was the editor. Since starting out as an entertainment writer at 8 DAYS magazine, she has interviewed a whole gamut of people, from a local balloon artist to international music artistes.

She has written hundreds of stories in her career, from celebrity profiles and travel articles to news and health features. She’s also produced client-commissioned projects including managing content creation for the 2015 BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore programme and Health Promotion Board’s HealthHub app, as well as sub-editing and writing for Ministry of Education. Her experience ensures that she knows a good story when she sees one.

CHARMAINE CHAN
Contributing Writer/Sub-Editor

Charmaine is a writer, journalist, editor, poet and former lawyer from Singapore. An inveterate globetrotter, she has lived, studied and worked around the world, from London to Hong Kong, Guam to Shanghai. Her poetry was featured in the bestselling anthology, No Other City: the Ethos Anthology of Urban Poetry. She is the author of The Magic Circle, a memoir published by Ethos.

As a magazine journalist, she has carved out a niche in lifestyle, starting out as a sub editor in CLEO magazine before moving on to becoming features editor for top women’s magazine Her World, and later transitioning to luxury men’s title The Peak.

As a freelancer, she has contributed to The Peak, Prestige, 24/7, D+A, as well as to custom titles such as Silver Kris and Ascent.

PATRICK SIN
Contributing Fashion Stylist

The former fashion editor of Her World Singapore, Patrick now works as a freelance fashion stylist for publications and corporations. He loves the opposing aesthetics in fashion – the pure simplicity of minimalism and the rich eclecticism of maximalism.
